Tanah Lot temple is quite spectacular, considering where it sits on a rock overlooking the vast ocean. Located in Bali, Indonesia, this temple is the most photographed temple on the island of Bali.

It is one of the seven temples on the coast of Bali that you can reach on foot. It’s preserved as a cultural icon. The people of Bali built the temple as they believe priest “Danghyang Nirata” spent the night on the rock. People believe that a bridge connected the island and the mainland at the old age but was destroyed by the sea. Today the temple stand firm, although it has had its fair share of ageing.

Interesting facts about the temple are that tiered shrines describe the complexity of faith, and Tanah Lot is a Hindu shrine built to worship the god of the sea to invoke prosperity and balance the ocean and earth. Another fact is that a cave underneath the temple protects a Freshwater spring. Amazingly, the water is fresh, although the sea surrounds the temple. Tanah Lot is a beautiful structure of architecture. You will be amazed by the small details and the Balance designing the whole area is breathtaking during the sunset and the sunrise, making it one of the top attractions in the Bali coats. If you plan to visit Bali, make sure you add the Tanah Lot temple to your list.
