When I was making my trip bookings through the services of World Holiday Vibes, it promised me of a stress free tailor made itinerary which would enable me to venture into the wild beauty of Madagascar with the same ease without the complications of travelling associated with it as well. I went to their site and within seconds, I had my own planned out holiday that included the most exciting things to do in Madagascar and it did not fail to do as much as it promised.

Contents

Let me take you through the places to visit in Madagascar , what to see in Madagascar was indispensable, and what unique things to do in Madagascar will make your trip there memorable. I will also take a brief 10 questions and answers that will give you an idea of how to reach your own adventure.

1. Avenue of the baobabs: The Landscape Landmark

I started my itinerary visiting Avenue of the Baobabs in western Madagascar. These giant topsy-turvy trees line some dirt road and appear to be growing to emerge from the sky. I spent a day here and received the sunrise, and the sunset, and the colours on the sky were quite unbelievable. The World Holiday Vibes tour guide took me on a quick walk in the baobab forest and even went further to take me to the nearby Kirindy Reserve where I could have a wildlife safari to see the elusive fossa.

Madagascar tourist attractions: Beautiful sunset shots, baobab tours, wildlife tour Kirindy.

2. Andasibe-Mantadia national park – A Lemur Show

The second park that I visited was the Andasibe-Mantadia National Park located at the east. In this tropical rainforest, there is a home of one of the biggest living lemurs, the Indri . The park has been marked out properly and it is easy to take daytime walks in the park and also have the lemur calls at night. Bird watching tours in the park is an actual pleasure to the wildlife lovers in our midst.

Madagascar attractions: Forest walks (in day or night), lemur sightseeing tours, bird watching tours.

3. Tsingy de Bemaraha – Wonder of UNESCO

The Tsingy de Bemaraha National Park impressed me with its lactic limestone structure, suspended bridges and caves. My guide led us through the Grand Tsingy circuit, which is a difficult, yet very rewarding hiking trail that exposes the tourist attractions in Madagascar in the park. These canyons were separated by the narrow bridges, so traversing them was a rush of adrenaline and the view all justified the trip.

Madagascar activities: Hiking, walking across bridges, watching animals (lemurs, birds, reptiles)

4. Nosy Be – The Beach Paradise

I could not stop myself making a detachment of the woods, and flew to Nosy Be. It is a slice of heaven with crystal clear waters, colourful coral reefs, and resorts are luxurious and it made my stay on the beach very memorable. World Holiday Vibes had also made a reservation for a snorkelling trip and a trip to see whale-sharks and this is once in a lifetime so I will never forget it.

Madagascar events: Snorkelling, scuba diving, whale-sharks, isle hopping.

5. Ranomafana – The Lush Rainforest

The second location I went to was the Ranomafana National Park which is among the biodiversity hot spots where I felt like I was in another world. After trekking, the thermal springs of the park are the best place where a person can relax. I attended some organised night walk to observe the nocturnal animals and the sight of chameleons and other wild animals was simply amazing.

Itinerary Madagascar: Night walks, hikes to the rainforest, hot springs.

6. Isalo – Madagascar Grand Canyon

The scenery of the Isalo National Park was entirely opposite huge canyons, natural ponds, and rocky figures in high places. I strolled the Canyon des Singes and cooled myself at a pool of natural water in the midst of the stars. It was a thrilling new experience to my itinerary due to the sense of adventure and the potential to camp under a star-filled sky.

Madagascar: Hiking, swimming in the natural pools, camping.

7. Ifaty & Tuléar – Coral Reefs & Sun

The trip to Ifaty and Tuléar provided me with an opportunity to spend a bit more time on the beach as I came to see one of the largest barrier reefs in the world. The snorkelling there was incredible, I had seen various types of fish, including sea turtles and a manta ray. Whale watching can also be done in the region at the appropriate time and this is an activity that you will like doing.

Madagascar: Snorkelling, diving, whale watching.

8. Antananarivo – The Culture meets Colonial Charisma

It was one morning in the capital of Madagascar, Antananarivo (Tana) where I was indulging in the colourful markets, colonial buildings and the history of the Rova of Antananarivo. The French Malagasy culture of the city was a situation that could not be forgotten and the visit to the Tsimbazaza Zoo was a wonderful experience with the family.

Sightseeing in the Republic of Madagascar: City-tours, market-places in Madagascar.

9. Whale Watching and Pirate History ile Sainte-Marie

The other complete contrasting experience was the serene island of Ile Sainte-Marie that had serene beaches, an opportunity of viewing humpback whales, and visiting the old pirate cemetery. This cultural deviation was a soothing experience that was the final addition to my journey.

Madagascar activities: Whale watching, touring the cemetery of the pirate and kayaking.

10. Kirindy Forest – The Fossa Spot

After my first visit to the Kirindy Forest, I was required to visit it again, the dark and dry forest is the most suitable area to see the elusive fossa. Day safaris and night safaris saw me see other wildlife that included giant jumping rats and various lemurs.

Madagascar attractions: Safari, baobabs and wildlife tours.

Bonus: More Unique Things to Do in Madagascar

  • Ambohimanga Royal hill: A historical sacred UNESCO site.
  • Emerald Sea (Diego Suarez): A kite surf and sea adventure destination.
  • Chameleons of Andasibe: This is colourful and interesting, and it is best seen in close bodily proximity.
  • Pangalanes Canal: Take a boat ride and go through the River of a Thousand Islands.
  • Village homestays: Malagasy culture as locals- Experience the Malagasy culture.

Final Thoughts

Things to do in Madagascar is a melting pot of landscapes, wildlife, and culture, and this may be traced along the old-fashioned Avenue of the Baobabs to the harsh cliffs of Isalo. My visit, which was properly planned with the company of the World Holiday Vibes, confirmed the fact that the activities to see in Madagascar are numerous and unforgettable. And whether you are following lemurs, snorkelling in the coral reefs, or just enjoying the sunrise on the baobabs, your memories of Madagascar will be everlasting. Take your bags and begin to make an adventure!
