Mexico is a popular destination for travellers, but it can be a challenge to visit both the ancient ruins and the vibrant beach resorts in one trip due to the expense and logistics. Fortunately, that’s about to change with the launch of Mexico’s long-awaited scenic train, Tren Maya, in December of this year. Starting from Palenque, known for its ancient Mayan sites, the train will make stops in the Yucatán capital of Mérida, Chichén Itzá, and finally, Cancún. For breathtaking views of Mexico, choose to sit in the “Xiinbaal” carriage, which features massive panoramic windows.
