The only thing that ran in my head when I was finally making my booking to visit Taiwan was where to stay in Taipei. I am not lying, look, I got down a huge rabbit hole researching this. In three weeks in Taipei I learned considerably more than any blog article ever could but I would prefer someone to have just told me the straight facts before I got there. So here we are. I made all the arrangements with World Holiday Vibes, and frankly speaking? Best decision I made.

Get Your Taipei Base Right (Trust Me, It Matters)

This is what happens concerning deciding where to stay in Taiwan, Taipei. It’s not like booking a random hotel and calling it a day. If you head to the wrong side, you will have to spend half of your journey on the MRT being lost. Pick the right spot? Everything just clicks. There are night markets within a distance of five minutes. That little dumpling spot that everybody is talking about? Right around the corner.

World Holiday Vibes continued to inform me that it did not sell holidays but vibes. I had assumed that it was but marketing talk, but I ended up being there. They steered me toward neighbourhoods where things was actually happening, not just touristy areas with overpriced everything.

Da’an – Just Start Here (Newcomers)

Seriously, where to stay in Taipei for first timers? Da’an. Done. This entire neighbourhood is functional. The chances are that I had at least 15 occasions dining at Yongkang Street since I kept discovering new places. The flight was worth taking the beef noodle soup by itself.

The hotel situation in Da’an is pretty varied. I slept at Just Sleep Lin Sen, not so fancy but clean, comfortable, with good shower pressure (it counts). The rate offered by World Holiday Vibes was lower than Booking.com by itself by around 30 pounds, which was enough to purchase several additional bubble teas. The MRT access is ridiculous. You can reach anywhere in twenty minutes max, you see.

In Daan Forest Park mornings were another matter. You can see old guys practising tai chi at 6am when you are a bit jet-lagged and holding a coffee? That’s the real Taipei. That is what World Holiday Vibes had in mind when talking about holidays vibes.

Ximending It Is A Lot, But In A Good Way

How to get accommodation in Taipei and be chaotic and fun? Ximending’s answer. This is a place that is completely crazy at night. Shibuya in Tokyo but smaller and even more intense. The neon, the crowds, the street performers, all of it is absolutely overwhelming and I loved the time I was there.

The budget scene here really surprised me. I met some backpackers staying in these capsule hotels that looked genuinely cool, not just cheap boxes. With World Holiday Vibes, it has loads of options below 40 a night. You can go out till midnight going to the night markets, and you can simply walk home. There is no worry about the final trains.

But look, where to stay in Taipei for family situations? Perhaps you should avoid Ximending unless your children are teenagers. It was a meltdown on the part of my friends who brought their 8-year-old here and could not handle all the noise and people. Teenagers though? They’ll never want to leave.

Zhongshan -When you want adult Taipei

My mate kept asking me about the best hotels in Taipei and Zhongshan kept coming up. This district’s got this weird mix of old Japanese buildings and new design hotels that somehow works perfectly. It feels proper, you know? Cultured and yet undazzling.

I did a whole compare hotels session through World Holiday Vibes before booking, and Palais de Chine Hotel won hands down. Everything had breakfast, mental as it was, starting with congee and going to croissants. The place was also brilliant. After that strolled to Taipei Fine Arts Museum and wasted hours in Fujin Street indie shops.

The local vibe in Zhongshan is different. Young designers of shops and all over, good unique things, no tourist things. Cafes are concerned about their coffee. The entire space simply appears more grown-up. Nice to have with your loved one or when you are alone and need to have a chill.

Xinyi -All the shiny modern things

And where to make that complete modern Asia stay in Taipei? Xinyi’s where it’s at. This all is dominated by Taipei 101. The entire district shouts out to the world about being so developed- that is not a good thing to say but it is really quite impressive.

In my final few days, I spent a lot of money at Grand Hyatt Taipei. World Holiday Vibes’ price came in way cheaper than the hotel’s own website, which was bizarre but I wasn’t complaining. It is one thing to wake up and see Taipei 101 on your window. The mall attached allowed me to shop for gifts without leaving the house and this was very handy during rainy seasons.

Xinyi’s a bit soulless compared to older parts though. Is it all clean and good and somehow corporate? Good when you need to travel somewhere on business or you would enjoy the city’s luxury feel. No good when you desire the small town feel and unexpected surprises.

Beitou – Hot Springs

Where can you stay in Taipei in case you have to get back to yourself? Beitou. This entire North part is constructed around the natural hot springs and following 20,000 steps in one day of exploring Taipei, the routine of my evening turns into the immersion of mineral baths.

Villa 32 was quite beautiful. You have a hot spring in your room, a balcony, which overlooks misty mountains the entire package. World Holiday Vibes somehow upgraded me which is not the case with me. Sure, it takes thirty minutes on the MRT out of central Taipei, but to tell the truth? The urban insanity was worth the break.

Where to stay in Taipei for family groups looking for something different? Beitou’s brilliant. Hot Spring Museum and Thermal Valley provide that educational content to kids without being boring. My sister took her children and they really had fun learning about volcanic activity and at the same time being able to splash in hot springs. Win-win.

Actually Choosing Your Taipei Base

Right, after checking out all these areas, here’s my actual guide: first-timers need Da’an or Zhongshan. No debate. Budget travellers will find insane value in Ximending. Got money to spend? Xinyi. Need to relax and recover? Beitou.

World Holiday Vibes simplified the booking to the dead simple. Their compare tools showed me everything available in real-time across different properties. No undercover charges, no unexpected costs. Their team understood that accommodation selection is not only about such things as fancy pillows and thread counts. It’s about putting yourself in the right spot to actually enjoy the city instead of constantly travelling across it.

The best hotels in Taipei I experienced all had similar things going on: staff who actually knew their neighbourhoods and gave proper recommendations, easy access to MRT stations, and that feeling like you’d found somewhere special instead of just another generic room.

And by the way, when you are planning Taiwan, you may consider making your trip longer. Check out Taiwan holidays through World Holiday Vibes. They’ve got packages that cover way more than just Taipei, and where is the best area to stay in Taipei becomes less stressful when you’ve got experts handling the logistics.

Questions That People Continually Ask Me

What’s the best area to stay in Taipei for first-time visitors?

Da’an, no question. You get proper MRT connections, you’re close to major spots like Taipei 101 and the night markets, but you’re also staying somewhere that feels authentically local. It is the Goldilocks area, not too touristy, not too residential.

Are hotels in Taipei expensive?

Not really, especially compared to Tokyo or Singapore. Good hostels are available at 15 pounds a night. Mid-range hotel rooms usually run £50-80. Luxury things starts around £150. World Holiday Vibes has always been cheaper than other booking sites and in addition, they usually include breakfast or airport transfers.

Is Ximending safe at night?

Yes, completely. Taipei’s one of Asia’s safest cities anyway, and Ximending’s got people everywhere until late. Police presence is solid. The roads are also walkable, and you need not fear the traffic jams. Lone flyers and families both are well in this area.

How far in advance should I book Taipei accommodation?

The optimal period is three to four weeks. The selection is good and you do not pay high prices. Last-minute deals pop up sometimes, but if you’re picky about neighbourhoods or specific hotels during busy seasons (March-May and October-November), book earlier through World Holiday Vibes to guarantee your choice.

Can I stay near Taipei Main Station?

Of course, and it will be logical when you are making day trips around Taiwan. However, the place is more practical than entertaining. It does not possess the neighbourhood feel other places like Da’an or Zhongshan offer. Ok to stay short term or when you have got an early train to another city.

Ready to sort your Taipei accommodation? Head to World Holiday Vibes Taipei and check out their curated hotel selections. They truly aim at selling vibes and not only holidays. Their prices are competitive and their local knowledge means you’ll end up exactly where you need to be.
