The sun is bright, the tide is complete, and the sea is calm at night.
The light gleams and then vanishes on the Sri Lankan shore where the straits lie, shimmering out in the tranquil bay. Feels good, yes? Let’s experience this directly.
Sri Lankan beaches are a little piece of heaven, famed for their picturesque landscapes, vibrant fauna, and top-notch surfing. From tidal island and white sand bars to swinging palm trees, every beach from east to west has its distinct personality.
There are some fantastic beaches in Sri Lanka. While each beach is lovely in its own right, Beruwala Beach is the place to go if you’re seeking a serene length of sand that you can enjoy.
Beruwela Beach
Tourists first visit here before continuing to enjoy in the close-by beaches in Bentota and Aluthgama. The Beruwala “Golden Mile” beach is well-recognised as a tropical paradise for visitors and locals. A fine layer of white sand covers the expansive shoreline, surrounded by exotic palm trees that offer some relief from the scorching sun.
If you are travelling with your kids do not worry if they misbehave in public. There aren’t many people around, so you may withdraw to your beachside spot and relax without unwanted or critical eyes!
On the beach and the island, you may find some of the most lavish resorts in the world, where you can stay with first-rate services. Some resorts also give their clients access to ayurvedic retreats and treatments. A holiday on the Sri Lankan coast at Beruwala Beach is guaranteed to be fantastic.
Suggestion: While visiting Beruwela, guests can have an excellent time lodging at Cinnamon Bey.
Bentota Beach
An extremely well-liked beach in Sri Lanka.
The southernmost town in Sri Lanka is called Bentota. South of Colombo by 64 kilometres. Sri Lanka’s southern-western and southern-coastal regions are renowned for their beautiful beach resorts. In the area, there are two well-known twin beaches, and these places are called Bentota Beach and Beruwala Beach. The Beruwala beach is located before you reach Aluthgama, and you can see the Bentota beach from the Bentota Bridge. Bentota Beach is a favourite spot with tourists worldwide and arguably one of Sri Lanka’s most well-known beaches. The most significant time to visit Bentota Beach is between October and April when it is known for its long stretch of white sand and various areas where it is safe to dip in the ocean.
Unawatuna Beach
After a scorching summer day, the beach is a great place to relax while showcasing the local way of life. Many Sri Lankan families visit the beach to cool off in the afternoon. Visit the well-known Unawatuna beach to enjoy the views and relax while sipping a tasty beverage.
A few years ago, along with my family members, I went to Unawatuna Beach, this reminds me of my late grandparents. We all enjoyed viewing coral reefs via the boat’s glass, playing with tubes and forming a circle to play ball together.
You’ll soar higher when you eat traditional spicy food after swimming in the ocean. My grandmother brought homemade seeni sambol, which we had afterwards, along with bread.
Hikkaduwa Beach
Hikkaduwa’s oceans are home to a wide variety of fish species, vibrant corals, warm-shelled turtles, and much more. Scuba diving, snorkelling, whale watching, ocean swimming, glass boats, river expeditions, and sailing are just a few adrenaline-pumping pastimes on the island.
Suggested activity: Exploring the coral reefs at Hikkaduwa.
The Hikkaduwa Reef, one of Sri Lanka’s most well-known coral reefs, is situated just opposite the Coral Sands Hotel. Bring your snorkel and mask because the water is typically calmer and easier to enter on this beachside. This makes it a fantastic location for swimming and snorkelling. If not, you can pay a reasonable sum to rent equipment at the beach. This region has many vendors selling snorkelling equipment, dive shops, and glass-bottom boat rides.
Kalutara Beach
Kalutara beach is the ideal location to unwind and appreciate nature because of the refreshing sea air and ideal tropical weather. The beaches are maintained clean.
This area is home to many opulent resorts and hotels for those seeking a break from their busy lives. You can spread your legs, smooth your hair, and enjoy by unwinding time at the resort. There are several recreational opportunities available at the resorts as well.
Koggala Beach
One of the top beaches on the south coast is Koggala Beach. A superb surfing spot for experienced surfers. Your surfing skill level should be higher to handle the water’s strong undercurrents.
Choose a hotel close to the beach for the finest experience and wake up to the sound of the ocean. Additionally, a recently built way links Koggala to the airport, making it simple to travel and unwind after your excursion before you board the flight back home.
Enjoy the tropical paradise by swimming in the water, relaxing on the golden sand with a coconut, or doing both at once.
