One of Australia’s most picturesque cities, Perth lies along the Indian Ocean and is centred around the Swan River. Despite being the fourth-largest city in the nation with a population of 1.6 million, Perth is much more relaxed than Sydney or Melbourne. Perth is renowned for its love of fine coffee, and it is home to hundreds of coffee shops that honour the craft of creating mouthwatering creations from coffee beans. Like Kings Street, London Court, and Northbridge, the city has several fantastic markets and shopping districts. It’s also the ideal location to visit several neighbouring beaches because of its wonderful temperature.
Cottesloe Beach
From Perth, it is possible to get to “Cott,” as it is popularly called. Drive 15 minutes from the city, board a regular Transperth bus, or board a train on the Fremantle line and enjoy a leisurely 600-meter stroll to the beach from Cottesloe station. The popularity of Cottesloe Beach among tourists is well-founded. With a sizable grassy area with tiers for seating, it’s ideal for swimming, snorkelling, and surfing. It also makes for an excellent place to unwind with friends. With lots of covers and open grass to the north and south of the Indiana structure on the central stretch of the beach, picnics at Cottesloe Beach are simple. Change rooms, showers, accessible restrooms, and water fountains are available in Cottesloe. A sizable children’s playground and stationary exercise equipment are located north of the Indiana structure.
Kings Park and Botanic Garden
Towering lemon-scented gum trees that are brilliantly illuminated at night border Fraser Avenue, the primary road that enters the park. The State War Memorial, a cafe, a souvenir store, Fraser’s restaurant, and the Kings Park Visitor Centre are located at the end of it. It’s a nice place to have a picnic or let the kids run about unsupervised on one of the playgrounds. Year-round, hikers and joggers enjoy the area’s many trails, and the steep stairs leading up from the river are rewarded with breathtaking views at the summit.
Fremantle
Fremantle is a charming, colourful port city in Western Australia. You won’t believe how much this little Perth suburb, albeit technically part of the metropolis, has to offer! Visiting Fremantle, a top tourist attraction in and of itself, is one of the most well-liked things to do in Perth. The port city of Fremantle, sometimes known as Freo by locals, is rich with stunning old structures and has a thriving music and arts scene. Fremantle Prison is the sole UNESCO-listed structure in all of Western Australia, and many other culturally significant locations help to illustrate the state’s history.
Don’t be shocked if you spend most of your time eating and drinking in Fremantle because it has an incredible cuisine and nightlife scene. One thing is certain: there are plenty of dining options around the Fremantle Fishing Boat Harbour, from the mouthwatering food stalls of the Fremantle markets to the well-liked cafés on Cappuccino Strip. You won’t go without food.
Elizabeth Quay
Since its official debut in January 2016, Elizabeth Quay has played a significant role in Perth. The artificial inlet replaced the Esplanade Reserve and was named Queen Elizabeth II in honour of her diamond jubilee. Locals and visitors enjoy the stunning views of the lake, dining for lunch or supper at one of the restaurants and seeing their kids play on the playgrounds. Elizabeth Quay offers many free activities if you’re on a tight budget. Due to the quay’s strategic position, several guided city tours leave, including those that cover the best local eateries, Instagram-worthy locations, and café culture. Even beautiful river cruises and trips to the Perth Zoo, Fremantle, and beach-ringed Rottnest Island are available here.
Rottnest Island
The beautiful splendour of Rottnest Island, a designated nature reserve with its dreamy bathing areas and laid-back atmosphere, is beyond description. The 19 km2 island is a popular snorkelling location, with 20 bays and 63 beaches. Get yourself a quokka; As curious and amiable as they are adorable, quokkas are highly inclined to approach you. Prepare your camera, but be considerate and maintain a safe distance so they feel at ease enough to let you record this unique experience.
Perth Zoo
A world where the variety of species and habitats is secure serves as the inspiration for and the scope for the efforts. Perth Zoo, a Western Australian landmark with lush landscapes and realistic displays housing 1,300 species worldwide, is only five minutes from the city. In the Australian Bushwalk and Wetlands, you can stroll among Australian animals and get to know your local wildlife.
