The year of the cat – Vietnam

The year of the cat – Vietnam

Tet festival, also known as Vietnamese Luna new year, is the most important festival in Vietnam. Tet Nguyen Dan in Vietnamese means “Feast of the first morning’, and it celebrates the beginning of a new year and the coming of spring.

A spectacular festival is held with traditional food, music and dragon dancing performed in the streets. This would be the ideal time to visit Vietnam. Tet is celebrated on the same day as the Chinese New Year, and it serves as the opportunity to pay homage to their ancestors. 2022 is the year of the cat.

Tet is a family centred holiday, exactly like Christmas. Houses will be cleaned and decorated with flowers, especially yellow and orange flowers, which signify good luck. Yellow Ochre flowers are the Vietnamese version of the Christmas tree.

You can take part in the Tet festival by trying traditional food. They prepare a variety of delicacies. If you hope to visit Vietnam during Tet, we recommend booking hotels, tours and transportation in advance. During Tet, most of the local businesses will be closed and some of the tourist attractions. Seek out western restaurants to avoid disappointment. You will need a slightly higher budget during this festive time. Avoid bargaining as it is considered bad luck for the new year.

The best cities to travel to during Tet are Hanoi, Hoi An and Hochi Minh because most shops stay open. Tet is a beautiful time to explore the best of Vietnam.

Land of smiles

Land of smiles

Thailand is well known for the welcoming and warm nature of its culture and people. Beautiful temples, paddy fields are a common sight in and around busy cities, reflecting the diversity of landscape and lifestyle of Thai people. Thailand is often referred to as the “Land of Smiles”. Being an ancient Asian kingdom, Thailand is significantly influenced by Buddhists and its traditions. Theravada Buddhism is seen as a source of order and stability in society and acts as a symbol of unity for the Thai people. With globalisation, modern Thai society has absorbed contemporary values and progressive ideas.

Thailand is often promoted as a partying destination, but Thai society is relatively modest and conservative. The concept of face, respect and shame are essential factors in Thailand. Thais rarely display strong negative emotions in public, and they are often seen as being super laid back because of this. The real reason behind this behaviour is the sense of national pride. The country and its people cling to the pride that it is the only nation in Southeast Asia to have never been colonised by European countries.

With thousands of temples, shrines scattered all around, amazing people with beautiful smiles, mouthwatering cuisine, especially the street food culture, beautiful landscapes, white sandy beaches, and islands have influenced the fascinating Thai culture. It is a country that you don’t need a reason to travel to; it is without question Thailand, the place that never disappoints. Thailand will always exceed anyone’s holiday travel expectations from a far corner of the world. That is the definition of Thailand.

Heart and the soul of French

Heart and the soul of French

France is a hub of greatly appreciated and loved fashion and food culture. Paris being the capital of magic, outside Paris is very different and unique.

French cuisine is an expression of passion. They have lengthy meals, and it is a part of French culture. Over the years, cooking styles have evolved from complicated heavy meals to reflect their highly sophisticated society. French love eating out; you will encounter many bars, restaurant cafes and baristas everywhere.

Paris’s fashion capital is home to fashion brands such as Louis Vuitton, Hermes, Dior, and Chanel. Locals have more distinct styles and are very sophisticated. Flowery dresses, long coats, well-cut suits, leather pants are the typical outfits that seem put together effortlessly but create magic.

French takes immense pride in their cuisine and fashion and are typically offended by any negative comment.

French takes their food seriously. They bring significant time and trouble to prepare a meal. If someone visits a restaurant, the French think they’ve come because they are “Hungry”. If you are not “Famished”, don’t go. Restaurants are for hungry people willing to sit through 5 – 7 courses may be more. Ordering a one-course meal or just a starter is considered “very bad”. Also, being too picky and leaving food on the plate is deemed insulting.

French value their style and try to always remain clean groomed. Casual wear in most situations is frowned upon. French has a more formal attitude to dressing and expects others to dress up. French has an immense sense of style and is very sophisticated. Style comes easy to them, and if you try and dress up, you might fit right.

When visiting France, do thorough research on what and where to eat and pack elegantly. To enjoy a relaxed holiday in France, you need to act pro and know it all about food and fashion etiquette in France.
